Where Is The New Money Going? mutual fund prices

My best guess is that absent some horrible news on the U.S. economy or Europe, the market will likely trend somewhat higher over the near term. We would expect that some new money will chase U.S. equities and bond funds will continue to be the most popular.

Where money is exiting is gold, health care and China. Over the past month $2.2 billion flowed out of  the SPDR Gold Trust (GLD), not surprising since GLD is down more than 5% in the month. About $800 million left the Health Care Select SPDR (XLV)  and also the iShares FTSE China 25 Index (FXI), both of which were basically unchanged in price over the past 30 days.

In my next post I will go over what I think will happen to the U.S. and global economies.

Where Is The New Money Going? mutual fund prices,January has also been one of the slowest months for new offerings since it takes several weeks to ramp up the new offering supply chain. As a result of more money chasing and less new shares the S&P 500 (SPY) usually has gone up not only during January but most of the time right up until tax time in April.

Will that same trend happen this year? No one knows for sure, but I will give you my best guess this coming Friday. Last year the market was strong at the start of the year, continuing the rally that started at the end of August 2010 whenBen Bernankeannounced that QE2 would start in January 2011. Those of you as skeptical as me will not be surprised to have learned that individuals pumped about $30 billion into U.S. equity mutual funds starting in January 2011 and that inflow ended when the market topped out early in May.

On Thursday I plan to talk about foreign exchange, gold and other commodities. On Friday I will offer my predictions for stocks bonds and commodities. Be forewarned my predictions are worth no more than what you are paying for them.

U.S. mutual fund investors were sellers all through the slump from May through mid-December when stock prices were below where they are now. As we approach year end we again are seeing new money going into U.S. equity mutual funds.

Besides those brave souls who are back nibbling at U.S. mutuals, the ETF with the biggest inflow over the past month was the SPDR S&P 500 index fund (SPY) that attracted $5.9 billion and surely supported the S&P 500s 6% pop in price.  Second was the  $800 million that went into the Technology Select SPDR ETF (XLK), up around 3% in price. The foreign big cap, iShares MSCI EAFE Index (EFA), also was up 3.3% in price and attracted $700 million of new money.

Year-end is when many of you who invest decide where to put new money to work. January has always been a good month for stocks prmutual fund pricesimarily because of supply and demand. Historically January has been one of the biggest months for new inflows into equity mutual funds.

The company has posted net profit of Rs 1322.46 million for the quarter ended on September 30, 2011 as against Rs 800.29 million in the same quarter last year, an increase of 65.25%. It has reported net sales of Rs 31676.41 million for the quarter ended on September 30, 2011 as against Rs 25097.10 million in the same quarter last year, a rise of 26.22%. At the current market price of Rs 310 the stock is trading at 5.20 x FY12E and 4.25 x FY13E respectively. Earning per share (EPS) of the company for the earnings for FY12E and FY13E is seen at Rs 59.61 and Rs 73.03 respectively. Net Sales and PAT of the company are expected to grow at a CAGR of 30% and 46% over 2010 to 2013E respectively. On the basis of EV/EBITDA, the stock trades at 3.16 x for FY12E and 2.67 x for FY13E. Price to Book Value of the stock is expected to be at 0.87 x and 0.72 x respectively for FY12E and FY13E. We expect that the company will keep its growth story in the coming quarters also. We recommend BUY in this particular scrip with a target price of Rs 347 for Medium to Long term investment, says Firstcall Research report.

His work has been gaining a reputation all over the world and is particularly popular with buyers in the United States and Canada.

Carl has exhibited his work in London, Nottingham, Coventry, Ludlow and Hereford.

But as a complete contrast he also enjoys working with Polaroid cameras.

My work is well suited to the overseas market and people in the United States and Canada enjoy it although I have also exhibited in Japan, said Carl.

His photographs can sell for anything between $500 and $2,500 and in a large exhibition he will display up to 25 photographs.

Although some of his work uses modern digital cameras much of it is taken with medium and large format cameras on traditional film which Carl feels is better for reproduction as large images.

Popular subjects include photographing bands and taking portraits. In a new departure he is recording the restoration of the Regal Cinema in Tenbury.

But his main focus is on selling his work overseas and he puts on about seven international exhibitions each year.

It is a small exhibition and I will be using it as the opportunity to show some new work and test the reaction, said Carl.

His mily still lives in Tenbury but Carl has his home and studio in the Herefordshire village of Kingsland.

The exhibition planned in New York is a one-day show on Friday, January 27.

The 31-year-old traces his photography back to Ludlow College where he studied the art form before going on to do a degree at Wolverhampton University.

I also enjoy working in black and white when it is right for the subject. Some of my work is done in the studio and some on location, he said. He has also shown his work in Seattle, San Antonia, Chicago and Tokyo and produced a book The Polaroid Collection.

This autumn he expects to spend several weeks in the United States as part of a tour.
